Uriyadi: A gritty little film through a pretty good filmmaker - The Hindu

Uriyadi, set in the Nineteen Nineties, starts off with 4 youngsters in an engineering college in Trichy. in the beginning, they seem like pretty usual boys. They're from smaller cities and that they're enjoying being free, smoking and consuming and celebrating birthdays by smushing cake on the face. Slowly, we see there's just a little of a social judgment of right and wrong in them. When an old man is denied entry into the hotel they time-honored, they rise up for him. When a girl is teased on a bus, one among them beats up the man. What's clean about first-time author-director Vijay Kumar is that he doesn't glamourise these guys, he doesn't make them saints or heroes — not even vigilante heroes. They're just boys who don't accept as true with in rulebooks, and who recognize the way to battle lower back. Two of those fights are fantastically choreographed.
